Equine Unlimited was formed in 2020 and is a Licensed Riding Establishment. We are still learning, building and seeing what people would like us to offer. We are a natural equine centre that promotes bitless, barefoot and the use of positive reinforcement training. Don’t worry though, you don’t have to be bitless or barefoot to come stay or use the facilities.

Equine Unlimited is unique as it offers so much for horse and owner!

If you are interested in learning our methods, we are more than happy to share our ethos and our knowledge.  We can guide you with the use of positive reinforcement, can help you transition to bitless or barefoot and have a variety of bitless bridles available for trial.  Our horses are kept in the most natural way possible, 24hour turnout all year, undulating fields, access to a large barn, natural shelter of trees outside, and they live in mixed herds. We believe in the three “F’s”, freedom, friends and foraging! We work very hard to ensure we have happy and healthy horses!

Owner Karen Inkster returned to Perthshire after 20+ years of leading adventurous expeditions all around the world. Horses have always been part of her life since moving to the countryside when she was five years old. Returning to horse ownership at 40 she took on Connie who had behavioural issues. Trying absolutely everything (unsuccessfully) she ended up taking her on an unsupported 300km journey across the Outer Hebrides of Scotland! Want to read about their adventure, book info below! Getting Monty 2 years later made her realise she still had a lot to learn and that’s when she discovered positive reinforcement training and has never looked back.

In 2017 deaf dog Pip, daft owner Karen and ditsy mare Connie undertook a 300km across the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. Unsupported and carrying all their own equipment, they spent 3 weeks crossing 13 islands. Experiencing 16 days of rain, bogs, ditches and midges, yet described as a humbling experience, the book is the story of their amazing journey together.

The book has not only raised over £10,000 for various animal charities, but it also won the 2020 International Equus Travel Award. Signed copies can be purchased for £7, inc postage, by getting in touch with Karen, contact info on the HOME page.
